Business Appreciation Week has been celebrated by the Commonwealth of Virginia since 1997. The Department of Business Assistance coordinates the week. It's a time when state government and local jurisdictions recognize the many contributions businesses make and say, "Thank you." During Business Appreciation Week, communities hold events as diverse as golf tournaments and receptions to honor their businesses.

In 2009, Virginia will pay tribute to the many charitable and community service activities that her businesses undertake, often quietly and without fanfare. From boxes to collect Toys for Tots, through adopting a highway, to cash contributions to local organizations, businesses of every size in Virginia do good work that is vital to sustaining their communities.
