For this Software to function properly the following steps MUST be performed prior to the first time the CD is used! You may prefer to print out these instructions and perform them while reading from the printed version.

The software system included within this CD is new in design, and requires several systems of your computer to interact that normally function separately. We recommend performing the following simple steps for proper operation of the Business Plan Software:

Step One

Data Access across Domains

1) From the Menu on your browser, select "Tools."

2) Then choose "Internet Options”,  The following Screen will appear:

  3) Click the tab labeled "Security;” the following Screen will appear:

4) Click the button at the bottom labeled "Custom Level.”

5) Scroll down until you see "Miscellaneous." The first listing under "Miscellaneous" will be "Access data sources across domains."Choose "Enable" under this listing. See the screen below:

  6) Click “OK” at the bottom and “OK” again when the box disappears.

Step Two

Allow Active Content to Run Files

1) From the Menu on your browser, select "Tools."
2) Then choose "Internet Options;”  the following Screen will appear:

  3) Click on tab labeled “Advanced;” The following Screen will appear:

  4) Scroll down until you see “Security.” Click on box that reads “Allow active content torun in files on My Computer” (box should have check mark showing when finished).

5) Click “OK” at the bottom and “OK” again when the box disappears. 

Step Three

Install our “Patch” to allow this software to function with the latest MicroSoft Security Upgrade

1) To apply the patch .
2) A dialog box will open asking if you would like to "Run" or "Save" the file. Choose "Run."

3)       Answer "Yes" to the dialog box that will ask you if you want to apply the patch.

4)       Click OK to acknowledge that you have successfully applied the patch.

Step Four

Add Adobe Acrobat Reader onto your CD

In In order to view some of the files on this CD, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader already installed, click the button to the left to install Adobe Acrobat Reader, V. 7.0. When asked if you would like to "open" or "save" the file, click "open." Click through the questions that follow and it will be installed on your computer. You may also download the most recent version from the Adobe web site: .

The software on this CD is subject to changes that may occur whenever Microsoft or other companies upgrade internal system operations through security upgrades, patches, and other changes to the way the system operates.If you experience problems with the operation of this CD, check for an upgrade patch at the Community College Workforce Alliance web site: http://www.ccwa.vccs.edu/smbus.cfm.

• While viewing pages on the CD, you may click the "Back" button on the menu at the top of your screen to move back to the page you were previously viewing.
• Links to web sites and forms will open in a separate window for you. Click the "X" in the upper right corner of your screen to close these pages and return to the CD.
• If you accidentally exit the CD, reinsert it into your computer and the program will start again.
• You will be able to view this CD best if you use an Internet Browser other than Netscape. The CD works well with recent versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
