SERVICES

As part of the Virginia Jobs Investment Program, there are a number of services that we can provide to our clients:

Planning Meeting
After receiving a company's application, a VJIP project manager will meet with company representatives to learn more about the company's products and services, necessary job skills for the new positions, recruitment plans, and existing training curricula. This information is used to develop high-quality, custom-designed recruiting, training, and retraining programs specific to the company's start-up expansion or retraining needs.

Community Meeting
After assessing the company's recruiting and training needs, a VJIP project manager may call together many of the community resources for a meeting with the company. These resources may include the Virginia Employment Commission, community college, private schools, local politicians, social services, the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, and targeted vendors. This community meeting benefits the company by having professionals in the recruiting and educational fields in one spot to assess needs and allocate responsibilities for the most effective recruiting and training plan.

Funding
Funding for each project is designed around net new jobs being added in Virginia by the company. Funding is based on the estimated tax benefits generated within a one-year period and an initial cost estimate developed during the program's design. This total budget is then divided by the number of new jobs the company will create. This figure is the amount the company will be reimbursed for each new job.

The streamlined reimbursement process consists of a completed Reimbursement Form, which can be submitted by fax or email. There must be a minimum of 25 new employees submitted on the first reimbursement form for companies qualifying for the New Jobs Program, and a minimum of 5 new employees submitted on the first reimbursement form for companies qualifying for the Small Business New Jobs Program. Employees hired before the Application Form is submitted may not be included in the reimbursement process. All employees listed on the Reimbursement Form must have been on board for at least 90 days and must qualify as permanent full time employees (at least 36 hours/week) with benefits.

Recruitment & Training Consulting Services
A VJIP project manager can assist a company in the entire process of recruiting new employees, including helping to determine the skills of jobs to be filled, the schedule for hiring, developing job descriptions, and even coordinating job fairs and pre-employment assessment & training events.  In order to help a company reach diverse, targeted labor pools, the VJIP project manager will help identify a variety of public and private recruiting resources.   The project manager will also introduce the company to available training resources in the area and help build relationships between the company and these local resources.

Organizational Development Training
Organizational development efforts are just as important as state-of-the-art technology. Businesses cannot be competitive without the full utilization of their human resources. To help our clients with their employee training efforts, VJIP offers its clients the following training modules. Each of these modules can be customized to meet client needs. These training modules are conducted at no cost to the company.

  • Customer Service
  • Effective Meetings
  • Problem Solving
  • Recruitment and Selection
  • Supervisory Skills
  • Teams and Team Building
  • The FISH! Philosophy of Customer Service
  • Train-the-Trainer
  • What Makes You Tick? (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator)

Electronic Media Production
VJIP can also support a company's recruiting and training efforts by producing a  CD, DVD, VHS, or even part of a website to help with a company’s business development (for small businesses only), employee recruitment, employee orientation, or training.  Our VJIP Electronic Media Production team will coach the company on the script writing, help decide what type of footage would best accompany the script, shoot the appropriate footage, and then provide a high-quality video program to the company – all at no cost to the company.  All resources gathered are implicitly client-proprietary and treated as such.

Three of our clients have given us permission to share samples of the videos that VJIP created for them.  These are Windows Media A/V files and will take a while to open.
